So to further explain my final project, I want to create a sequence that projects my past, though unclear at times and vivid at others, my present which seems to loom and progress at an excruciatingly slow pace, and my future which for everyone is unclear but ultimately for everyone, death is unavoidable. Throughout the video I projected another video I made which resembles death in a sense that no one is able to determine when or how, it just remains present in our lives, enlivened by friends or relatives passing, as well as near death experiences. The idea that this video is projected onto the "past, present, and future" recreate that idea that you can't see your death or know when it will occur but you know it is there. Like faith.
For the scene "past", I wanted to incorporate sequences that were vivid, and others that were a little blurred or abstract. Just like in memories of the past, some are so vivid that scents can awaken them, however others are blurry and difficult to remember.
For the scene "present", I wanted the scene to last the longest, because I feel that the present seems to pass by so slowly that you almost feel stuck in the moment and you can't escape it. You can think of the future and reminisce on the past, but your in the present which your supposed to make the most of but you can often find yourself wasting time. A quote that I really love that touches on this is, "Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." The present is often considered a present, to an extent I agree, however it is also a challenge of persistence and faith.
For the scene "future", the future is unclear however it looms in a lot of people's minds. Often after a loss, people (including myself) have deeply contemplated what happens when your body is no longer a soul but rather deteriorating flesh. How does this transformation take place? What is it like? What can we expect after we die? Will we see the people we love again? Although some cynics like to ruin the concept of Heaven, I think it's a great idea that I would like to hold on to just as a security blanket. I look forward to the day that I can join my Grandma, as well as other loved ones, and I would even like to think that I can meet famous people like Audrey Hepburn. Why not?
Anyways, the heart for me symbolizes life, and without a heart beat there is no life. The flashing red ultimately represents life progressing towards death. And the white light at the end of the video represents the body passing on and the soul leaving the body. Here is a clip that I think will work:

Along with my video, I wanted to create a sound piece that would reflect this constant "tick of the clock" to the end. I want it to symbolize the passing of time and the disconnect we have with time, sometimes time slipping through our fingers. Regardless of what you do in life, the clock is still ticking. As Ben Franklin says, "Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that the stuff life is made of." The sporadic notes represent the disconnect we sometimes have while the rhythm represents the biological clock. file:///Volumes/My%20Passport/legendhasit3.band/
